CARINE ROITFELD’S SEVEN LOVERS
May 5, 2019
words Cyril Vinchon
Seven lovers and seven iconic cities distilled into seven just as unforgettable fragrances. By launching not one, but seven different perfumes (and her eponymous brand on the same occasion) in New York today, Carine Roitfeld (Editor-in-Chief of CR Fashion Book and founder of CR Studio) is projecting her name and her visionary ideas a little higher into the firmament of fashion. Throughout her career, Carine Roitfeld has always had the knack of incorporating style, elegance, humor, irreverence and power into the images she creates, and today she is back with a vengeance in the form of seven perfume bottles containing what could be qualified as “pure, distilled CR”.
It’s the bottled essence of the CR hallmark; an essence as powerful as the reputation of the fashion icon who has been redefining the codes of the industry for several decades now. The unbridled ingenuity shrouded in mystery transpires from the men (real or imaginary) who inspired these fragrances: the collection, called ‘7 Lovers’, symbolizes the insatiable desire for “fleeting romances, passion, close encounters and love”.
For Carine Roitfeld, perfume is the final touch to a given style, where the most infinite of its molecules encapsulates both the uniqueness of character and the headiness of seduction.” By exploring the limits of audacity and sensuality and with the help of her perfumers Aurélien Guichard (Aurélien and Orson), Pascal Gaurin (Kar-Wai, Sebastian and Vladimir), and Yann Vasnier (George and Lawrence) Carine Roitfeld has designed the ultimate unisex fashion accessory.
The Carine Roitfeld brand is destined for international deployment and it’s the NET-A-PORTER platform that has seized the opportunity to sell the elixir of the CR designer label exclusively for six months as of May 6, 2019. In addition, Carine Roitfeld’s series of fragrances is available on the brand’s internet site carineroitfeld.com, and in a New York pop-up store in Soho (158 Mercer Street, New York, NY 10013) where Carine, in collaboration with Yeezy, will sign limited edition lime and purple t-shirts to mark the launch of her perfume line.
