This September, the Orientation X LuByLu capsule collection is taking New York City by storm, and carries us to our seats at a ceremony that brings together two—almost—diametrically opposed worlds.

The independent New York agency and Nigerian brand LuByLu—created in Lagos in 2020—have pooled their talents to create a limited and exclusive collection of vibrant-colored bags, in sharp-cut shapes, almost as if they were cut out of the steel from one of the Big Apple’s skyscrapers.

The essence of the brand’s ethos is to reinvent sustainability by creating items that defy the laws of fashion and incorporate a cross-continental heritage. The myriad beads used to fashion the bags are made entirely of recycled plastic, combining the urban soul of the city that never sleeps with the luxurious, ancestral cultural heritage of Lagos. The multi-faceted beads that are the hallmark of LuByLu, are threaded together by hand in workshops where ethical values come first.

A Lagosian warmth—reminiscent of the equatorial mangrove—emanates from the little beads, as does the heat and intensity of the crowds in New York. Heightened sensations that urge us to lose ourselves in the fields of glass giants, green giants, traveling through the labyrinths of life—a pathway reflected in the intricate assembly of each little bead.

With their delicate nature, bestowed upon them by deft, nimble fingers and giving them a new reason to bring us light, these small, sustainable stars are shining strong, reflecting an entire galaxy of perspectives and a new tangent on fashion, in a supercharged osmosis stamped Orientation X LuByLu.

The Orientation X LuByLu collection will be exclusively available in New York and on selected websites later in the fall.
